I rarely give out five stars, but this book is far better than I ever expected. Characters are vivid with a lot of depth, and the plot is so good I had trouble putting it down. I normally hate books that jump back and forth from past to present, but this one just seems to work. Without giving anything away, a cops wife is shot. At first it's believed to be a suicide, but is then ruled an accident. Soon it's revealed that there was a murder attempt. You are driven to no less than four suspects, and when you are sure you have it figured out something happens to thwart that scenario. It really is hard to put down. There are such wonderful happy parts, and heartbreaking parts. Lots of sex, but nothing graphic. An underlying love story that will warm your heart, and a fabulous ending. Grab this one.
I only read a few pages, but had to stop because there were so many sentence fragments. Almost every page started and/or ended with words that had no connection to the sentences around them. After spot checking the rest of the book revealed continued problems, I gave up. Please, if you are going to write for Kindle, make sure your sentences fit the page and edit the book so readers aren't frustrated by problems like this.
A mystery that does a lot of moving back and forth within a five-year time period surrounding a married couple. The husband, Jordan (and a cop), finds his wife of five years shot in the head. She is alive (barely) and how the shooting happened is the mystery. The characters are well developed and the relationship is carefully cultivated by the author. A range of emotions are explored and experienced by the leading characters -- much of which happen in a committed relationship. Nice handling by the author of the complex feelings of people who care about each other. Nice handling, also, of love scenes that give the impression of sexuality without any graphic descriptors.
Honestly I haven't given a book a five star review since Autobiography of a Werewolf Hunter by Brian Easton and honestly, I didn't think I was going to give out anymore, but She Belongs To Me was so beautifully written, so beautifully told, I literally have no choice. Honestly Jaynee is beautiful, Jordan is an example of the kind of husband I want to be, and everybody else around them reminds me of the saying, "Misery Loves Company," the secondary cast so full of their own problems that they want to bring the couple down. But this book illustrates what true love is, and shows that nobody has to be perfect to find a love that is perfect. Truly perfect. Truly beautiful. Truly this book. Honestly, I don't know if The Notebook was a book first but if this was turned into a script and done justice, then I could see it becoming as much as a classic on the silver screen then it was on my Kindle. Five Stars given away easily. Great job Carmen DeSousa. You have beautifully crafted a masterpiece.
I must admit after reading some of the less than stellar reviews I was tempted not to read this book. I am glad that I decided to read it, I enjoyed the story, I thought I had the mystery figured out but I was wrong I was kept guessing almost till the end of the story. I will agree with some of the other reviewers that occasionally I would feel unsure of whose POV was being expressed. As far as the comment about it being too Christian, really? a few references to going to church, praying and asking the other main character if they are Christian just doesn't seem over the top to me. Some one else commented that the sex was too "G" rated, when I picked this book up I wanted romance not an explicit sex manual, so that was fine with me. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a romantic novel with a bit of mystery involved.
This idea of this book was much better than the reality. The characters are sickeningly perfect, all of their arguments are based on stupid immaturity. The majority of the book followed the beginning of their relationship, with a glimpse of the present here and there. I had issues with all of the jumping from past to present. Also, the POV randomly changes, sometimes several times in a chapter or even in one paragraph. There were times I had no idea whose POV I was reading because there were thoughts from both Jaynee and Jordan. The suspense aspect of this book is entirely overrated. It's fairly obvious who is responsible and the present doesn't make up enough of the story.
Jordan and Jaynee find each other when neither is looking for a romantic relationship. But they quickly realize that-in each other-they have found their soul mates. They are a couple the reader is pulling for throughout the story. And life is not always easy, especially because while Jordan is ready to start a family, Jaynee insists she needs to finish college first. AND Jordan has to quit the police force before she will get pregnant. The suspense comes when Jaynee suffers a gunshot wound to the head. Did she try to commit suicide, or is there more to the story? When you pray for a man and have faith, you will be blessed with a man like Jordan. I love this story about Jordan and Jaynee. When a Christian man and woman come together they are bound for love and happiness ever after. Just like all relationships there are the ups and down and Jordan and Jaynee's close to perfect relationship sustained the test of time. I loved that Jordan had so much respect for Jaynee and not wanting her only for pleasure. He waited when Jaynee could give herself to him as a whole. Jaynee had been through so much turmoil in her life that she was desperate for someone to love her. It was good that she could give love in return.I love a good suspense novel that keeps the gears spinning in my head. I have recommended this book to a couple of friends.
