Disappointed in this book. My husband was just told he has pre-diabetes and I was looking for a book that would tell me more about meal planning, like what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc. How much starch, protein, fruit, what kind of fruit is ok? Is there some fruit he should stay away from? Pages 1 - 47 talks about pre-diabetes. Chapter 4 is titled "What Can I Eat" and there's a paragraph on carbohydrates, a paragraph on proteins, a paragraph on fats etc. It doesn't tell you how to put it all together. The book also talks about exercise, basically that you should exercise. Pages 48-271 is recipes. So really, it is a recipe book. There are some good recipes and there are some that I wouldn't make like Nutty Greek Snapper Soup, Italian Sweet Fennel Sausage, Baked Stuffed Kibbeh, Even though the book has lots of recipes, again how do I incorporate the recipes in the meal plan? On the cover of the book it states, Your complete plan for preventing the onset of diabetes. I didn't see the plan.

When I found out I was pre-diabetic, I almost went into self-treat mode. This book helped me so much I ordered it for a friend of mine when she discovered she was diabetic as well. She also loves it. I have tabbed mine to make the information I use most easy to instantly locate. The recipes are an added bonus to the information. Excellent, helpful book.

This book was very helpful in explaining Pre-diabetes and ways to help prevent the on set of diabetes. I do wish it had a little more info on meal planning and how to put the correct balances of food together. As in- you get one starch- what is one starch? 1 slice of bread? 1 small tortilla? Beans are considered a starch and a protein? How many oz of meat? cheese? Say lunch you get how many starches, how much protein ect... Don't get me wrong I did learn from this book but was just hoping for a little more.

I thought I was going to get a "book" on managing and reversing pre-diabetes not a recipe book on it. It has way too few pages on actually what is happening to your body with pre-diabetes, how you got it and how to change it. 75% of the book is recipes that I would never make. I am sure they are great for pre-diabetes but I know that you can also balance your diet in other ways and thats what I thought I was getting. Big mistake in buying this book. If you are looking for knowledge don't even consider this book.

This is presented as a guide, but it's really a cook book. About 30 pages of "guide" and 200 pages of recipes. They really need to change the product description. The content itself is fine, but not as advertised.

So far this is very informative and gives good insight to help with management of pre-diabetes. Have not completed reading it but it rates good approval for reading and following.

I was told I am now prediabetic, and wasn't given much other information by my doctor. This book was educational and informative, and helped me understand the health issues.It also comes with a lot of recipes to try.
